STATEMENT OF ACAP CEO MARGARET A. MURRAY ON AT-HOME COVID TESTING REIMBURSEMENT REGULATIONS

WASHINGTON—Margaret A. Murray, CEO of the Association for Community Affiliated Plans (ACAP), issued the following statement today on new regulations from the Biden Administration that require health insurance plans to reimburse members for at-home COVID tests:

“We support the Administration’s intent to make at-home COVID tests accessible for everyone. Nobody should forgo a needed COVID test on the basis of cost. Accordingly, ACAP-member Safety Net Health Plans will do their part to implement these regulations with all due haste.

“There are a number of operational challenges that will only be exacerbated by the exceedingly short time for implementation.

“Just like families need to make adjustments on the fly when their kids are kept home from school owing to an outbreak, so too will we adjust – and we will hope that the Biden Administration will be open to feedback as we work to administer this new regulation.”

About ACAP:
ACAP represents 74 health plans, which collectively provide health coverage to more than 20 million people. Safety Net Health Plans serve their members through Medicaid, Medicare, the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), the Marketplace and other publicly-sponsored health programs.
