STATEMENT OF ACAP CEO MARGARET A. MURRAY ON PRESIDENT BIDEN’S 2024 BUDGET PROPOSAL
WASHINGTON— Margaret A. Murray, CEO of the Association for Community Affiliated Plans (ACAP), issued the following statement in response to President Biden’s proposed 2024 budget:
“Safety Net Health Plans applaud the Administration’s commitment to publicly-supported coverage programs. Affordable health coverage for millions must be preserved and strengthened for future generations.
“We are particularly pleased to see the President’s budget featured requirements for 12 months of postpartum Medicaid coverage, permanent enhanced after-premium tax credits for Marketplace coverage, and support for home- and community-based services for dual eligibles. These investments will help strengthen coverage and ultimately improve the health of the people these programs serve.
“Balancing the budget by eroding the health security of people with low incomes, seniors, or people with disabilities is a losing proposition for America’s future. ACAP members look forward to working with the White House and Congress to protect Medicaid, CHIP and other publicly-supported coverage programs in the upcoming budget negotiations.”
