STATEMENT OF ACAP CEO MARGARET A. MURRAY ON THE ONSET OF MEDICAID REDETERMINATIONS
LOS ANGELES—Margaret A. Murray, CEO of the Association for Community Affiliated Plans (ACAP), issued the following statement on the eve of the resumption of the practice of eligibility redeterminations among state Medicaid departments, where they reverify that Medicaid enrollees remain eligible for coverage through the program:
“The next fourteen months will strain state Medicaid agencies with an unprecedented volume of eligibility redeterminations. States certainly have the duty to enforce their eligibility criteria—but people’s lives and health are at stake. It’s important that states and Medicaid health plans work cooperatively to get it right. Their citizens deserve nothing less.
“As we embark on this period without precedent for Medicaid, Safety Net Health Plans are ready and willing to work with their state Medicaid agencies, network providers, and community-based organization partners to assure that the redeterminations occur as smoothly and accurately as possible—and connect people to the right coverage, whether it be Medicaid, CHIP, or Marketplace plans—at the right time.”
About ACAP:
ACAP represents 79 health plans, which collectively provide health coverage to more than 25 million people. Safety Net Health Plans serve their members through Medicaid, Medicare, the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), the Marketplace and other publicly sponsored health programs.
