STATEMENT OF ACAP CEO MARGARET A. MURRAY ON PASSAGE OF SENATE BUDGET RESOLUTION

WASHINGTON—Margaret A. Murray, CEO of the Association for Community Plans (ACAP), issued the following statement after the U.S. Senate passed a resolution setting budget levels for fiscal year 2025:

“Our concerns with the trajectory of this year’s budget process persist. The depth of cuts to Medicaid under discussion go well beyond addressing waste.  When Medicaid cuts of this scope were previously considered, rural hospitals warned that they could be at risk of closure, leaving communities without emergency rooms or maternity wards. And most of all, cuts place jobs in those communities at risk.

“In the next round of discussions around the budget, we urge Congress to consider how Medicaid cuts would interrupt or eliminate services for children, seniors, veterans, and workers with low incomes.

“We look forward to the opportunity to have productive conversations with Members from both sides of the aisle to that end.”
