About the Position:

The Senior Director, Account Management is responsible for the overall account management activities of the UPMC Health Plan’s large, mid, and small market commercial insurance products, including account implementation, account retention, and customer communications/relationships.

We seek candidates with a keen understanding of the industry and who can strategically manage large groups. The ideal candidate will bring leadership skills and the ability to build relationships. Select Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all account management functions in the Western PA market, including managed care products, funding mechanisms, and consumer directed services.
  • Implement company initiatives such as managed drug formulary, legislative and regulatory mandates, and new products and services.
  • Protect existing client base by developing strategies to increase market penetration and to prevent account termination.
  • Hire, train, and retain a competent staff of account managers, including staff development.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration preferred.
  • Seven to ten years account management experience in the health insurance industry or managed care industry is required.
  • Proven track record in managing a business unit and client relationships.
  • Financial/Marketing analysis experience required.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills.

Overview

The Senior Director, Account Management is responsible for the overall account management activities of the UPMC Health Plan’s large, mid, and small market commercial insurance products, including account implementation, account retention, and customer communications/relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all account management functions in the Western PA market, including managed care products, funding mechanisms, and consumer directed services.
  • Implement company initiatives such as managed drug formulary, legislative and regulatory mandates, and new products and services.
  • Protect existing client base by developing strategies to increase market penetration and to prevent account termination.
  • Hire, train, and retain a competent staff of account managers, including staff development.
  • Responsible for membership forecasting, development of goals, and budgeting.
  • Lead staff members in new account implementation, renewal negotiations, retention planning, and relationship building as well as overall customer communications.
  • Provide input and act as a liaison for Medicare and Medicaid account management activities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field required. Master’s degree in Business Administration preferred.
  • Seven to ten years account management experience in the health insurance industry or managed care industry is required.
  • Proven track record in managing a business unit and client relationships.
  • Financial/Marketing analysis experience required.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
  • Must possess a working knowledge of all business functions, including media relations, sales and marketing, accounting, medical management, provider relations, community relations, and human resources.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances

  • PA Health and Accident License required within 90 days of hire.
    Insurance Sales License.
