ACAP Joins Letter in Support of the Supporting Patient Education and Knowledge (SPEAK) Act, H.R.6033
In a sign-on letter released in November 2024, ACAP joined 16 national advocacy organizations in urging Congress to pass the bipartisan Supporting Patient Education and Knowledge (SPEAK) Act, H.R.6033.
The SPEAK Act would bring together public and private actors through the leadership of the Department of Health and Human Services to identify best practices and ways to improve telehealth access for people with limited English proficiency, resulting in a new resource for patients and telehealth providers. The bill ensures that health information technology providers, physicians, hospitals, health insurance companies, language services providers, and patient voices are included in this process.
