ACAP Signs Letter Urging President Trump to Protect Medicaid Coverage

On January 20, ACAP joined Families USA and more 425 than national, state and local organizations in submitting a letter to President Trump calling on him, on the first full day of his second term, to protect, preserve and strengthen Medicaid.

The letter highlights that cutting Medicaid is not the budget solution American families have asked for and underscores Medicaid’s essential role in safeguarding the financial stability and well-being of millions of Americans. The letter also emphasizes that the program stabilizes the economy, keeps rural hospitals open, and reduces the financial burden on states and the healthcare system.

The letter further outlines key points, including:

  • Medicaid provides insurance for 38 million children and covers more than 40 percent of all births in the country, allowing mothers to deliver safely and children to have a healthy start to life.
  • Medicaid ensures that people with disabilities can access critical home and community-based services and secure meaningful job opportunities.
